Do you find yourself dwelling on the past or worrying about the future? Do you struggle with overwhelming or persistent unease? Do you have difficulty concentrating or getting restful sleep? Do you ever notice inexplicable body aches? If so, you may be struggling with anxiety.
Do you constantly feel overwhelmed? Living with anxiety can be incredibly draining. The severity of fear or worry can feel like they have a debilitating grip on you and it spreads through your life, leaving you unable to function in your daily activities. Consequences of acute or chronic anxiety can also impact your overall health. We want to help you understand your anxiety, where it comes from, and develop more helpful and adaptive strategies.
Anxiety does not have to define you. We can help you find peace and regain balance.
Did you know anxiety is very common?
If you ever begin to feel like you are the only one who has anxiety–don’t. Sometimes we look at the world around us and feel like everyone else has their lives together. However, this is simply not true. According to the ADAA, anxiety affects 18.1% of the population every year. This comes out to roughly 40 million adults in the United States. The number is even higher for children who cover 25%.
Things to ask yourself
Sometimes we do not realize we need help until after our anxiety feels uncontrollable. We try everything on our own to alleviate the anxiety, but nothing provides the long-term relief we desire. If you do not know when it is time to seek help, a first step is to ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you find yourself excessively worried or overwhelmed?
- Do you experience irritability or muscle tension?
- Do you notice heart palpitations, shaking, nausea, sweating, or tightness in your chest?
- Do you find yourself wishing for peace of mind, a sense of calmness, or freedom from unpleasant thoughts?
Have you tried talking it out?
Sometimes talking to those closest to you about anxiety can be difficult. They cannot relate or maybe they know too much about your situation and keep giving their biased opinions. We want to see you living a life without fear of judgment, without sleepless nights, and without the obstacles of today halting you from moving on to tomorrow.
